Being part of the transgender community but also being a married Christian, I struggle with this one and can see both sides of the argument which seems, when it is boiled down, to be an issue over the term “marry”. Same sex couples these days are treated in law as if they were married but want to have some formal ceremony deemed a “marriage” where the church wishes to preserve the term “marriage” for unions of opposite sexes. Surely there is a compromise somewhere in between! A church wedding or marriage can remain a union between a man and a woman but why can’t any formal union outside of the church still be permissible as a civil wedding but then does it have to be termed a marriage? Semantics – aaaaaagghhhhh!
